Kanpur Book Fair 2025: Day Five Marks Literary Dialogues and Launch of ‘Kanpur Sahitya Sangam’

Kanpur: The fifth day of the ongoing Kanpur Book Fair 2025 at Government Inter College, Chunniganj, turned into a vibrant celebration of literature, culture and ideas, highlighted by a women’s literary symposium and the unveiling of the Kanpur Sahitya Sangam poster.

Rising Footfall Reflects Growing Reading Culture

The fair continues to attract a steady stream of visitors. Special discounts on books and a series of literary events have drawn sizeable crowds, indicating the city’s deep cultural inclination. Stalls dedicated to diverse genres witnessed great enthusiasm, reaffirming Kanpur’s strong bond with books and intellectual pursuit.

Bestsellers and Classics Draw Readers

Stalls from prominent publishers showcased bestselling titles and timeless literary works:

  • Rajkamal Prakashan Group: Sanskriti Ke Char Adhyay, Premchand Ki Sampoorna Kahaniyan, Rag Darbari, Aapka Bunty, Bharatiya Rashtravaad, Mahabhoj, Zindaginama, Banbhatt Ki Atmakatha and many other acclaimed works remained top attractions.

  • Sasta Sahitya Mandal, New Delhi: Works such as Hindustan Ki Kahani (Jawaharlal Nehru), Kamayani (Jayshankar Prasad), Hindi Sahitya Ka Itihas (Acharya Ramchandra Shukla), Kavya Ka Itihas (Vol. I–III), Agniranyaka and Mahabharat Katha drew immense interest.

  • Rajpal & Sons: Evergreen titles like Madhushala, Aawara Masiha, Aapka Bhavishya Aapke Haath Mein, Middle Class Manchurian, Hatheli Par Karna and poetry collections of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ghalib, Sahir Ludhianvi, Ahmed Faraz, and Nida Fazli remained crowd favourites.

Poster Launch of ‘Kanpur Sahitya Sangam’

A significant highlight of the day was the launch of the Kanpur Sahitya Sangam poster. Conducted by Alka Mishra, the event saw radio presenter Ranjana Yadav emphasize the need for such literary gatherings to enrich Kanpur’s cultural atmosphere.
Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar awardee Bhagwant Anmol announced that the first edition of Kanpur Sahitya Sangam will be held on February 7–8, 2026.

Young writer Ankur Mishra described Kanpur as the land of literary greats Giriraj Kishore and Priyamvad, asserting that literature flows naturally through the city’s veins.
Notable guests present included Gopal Tulsiyan, Pallavi Garg, Sushma Hee, Ram Gopal Awasthi, and Neeraj Hastings.

Women Writers’ Symposium Adds Creative Flair

On Sunday, the Kanpur Mahila Sahityik Manch organised an engaging symposium featuring poets and writers who captivated the audience with their compositions.
The session was anchored by Chandni Pandey, while Dr. Sushma Tripathi chaired the programme.

Esteemed participants included Dr. Annapurna Bajpai, Dr. Jaya Rajput, Archana Gangwar, Seema Varnika, Kusum Singh Avichal, Alka Mishra, Sushma Singh Urmi, Anita Anushree, Anjali Sagar, Deepanjali Dubey, Dr. Radha Shakya, Neeru Srivastava, Sunita Tiwari, Anahita (Anita Yadav) and several other noted poets. Archana Gangwar delivered the vote of thanks.
